Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced on Tuesday the signing of left-handed pitcher Brendan Lafferty to a contract for the 2014 season. Lafferty, 27, set a Goldeyes record last season by appearing in 53 games out of the bullpen, which passed Brian Beunings 51 appearances in 2008. The product of Riverside, Calif. went 5-2 with a 3.49 ERA in 49 innings of work and posted 50 strikeouts. "Were really thrilled to have him back," Forney said. "I was really excited to get him last year and he certainly was as good as we hoped he would be. He really is a durable, reliable type guy that likes to pitch every day. Thats an important ingredient when youre trying to put your bullpen together because our rosters are so small. Having him back in the fold certainly makes us better down there in the bullpen." Lafferty tied with Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks pitcher Joe Harris for the most appearances by a pitcher in the American Association last season. Lafferty and teammate Chris Kissock combined to make 103 appearances out of the bullpen, which was the most by any duo in the league. Prior to joining the Goldeyes for the 2013 season, Lafferty played four seasons in the Kansas City Royals system after being drafted by the Royals in the 18th round of the 2009 MLB amateur draft. He played with Double-A Northwest Arkansas of the Texas League in 2011 and 2012. He was a Rule 5 pick of the Philadelphia Phillies following the 2012 season, but was released during spring training. The Goldeyes now have four players signed for the 2014 season, including three pitchers and one position player. Adidas Nmd Levne Cz .
