Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes has been diagnosed with an acromioclavicular joint separation of his right shoulder and will be out approximately six to eight weeks, the team announced. The team officially placed Gomes on the disabled list Monday but said that surgery, at this point, is not required.I dont know if we really expected anything, Indians manager Terry Francona said. Its an [AC] shoulder separation, probably six to eight weeks. The good news is it doesnt look like he needs surgery, but its going to have to heal. His knee was intact and everything is OK there, so that is good. I think that is what [trainer] James [Quinlan] thought, but youve got to have the doctors look at it.The team activated catcher Roberto Perez to replace Gomes on the roster. Perez had been at Triple-A Columbus, rehabbing from a broken right thumb. Its not good losing your catcher, but thankfully we have somebody like Roberto, Francona said. In a perfect world, he could have played a little bit more, but hes been out to nine [innings]. But were not going to play him three or four in a row, thats for sure. Hes not going to start out playing every day cause, one, hes not ready to.Gomes suffered the injury Sunday against the Minnesota Twins when he fell and landed awkwardly on his shoulder while running to first base. Gomes right arm was put in a sling, and he was carted off the field. On Saturday, the Indians held what second baseman Jason Kipnis described as a sacrificial ceremony in the clubhouse before their game against the Twins in Minneapolis, with the hope of helping Gomes end his season-long slump; the catcher had just one hit since June 29 and no extra-base hits since June 25. The team took a page from the movie Major League, which included a chicken offering to the baseball gods. Before the injury, Gomes was 1-for-2 Sunday to raise his season average to .165.Gomes hit, a double, snapped an 0-for-27 hitless streak. The ball hit the foot of Minnesota starter Kyle Gibson and trickled into the outfield through a hole at shortstop, allowing Gomes to reach second base.I thought the sacrifice was supposed to be a good thing, Gomes told reporters Sunday. It got me a hit, though. We got a win. Thats plenty. The Associated Press contributed to this report.Adidas Boty Pánské Nmd .
