Everyone has a bucket list - an absolute must-do experience before their time is up.For me - surprise surprise - its attending sporting venues to see the best of the best strut their stuff.America is littered with phenomenal sporting venues and each has a place in history for different reasons. The first - Madison Square Garden in downtown New York City.Myself and Hannah booked in to see the National Hockey Leagues New York Rangers against the famed Detroit Red Wings. My Adelaide teammates, Taylor Walker and Brad Crouch - both traveling the USA - joined us for the clash, which made the experience even greater!I had been to MSG two years ago for a pre-season NBA game and even though the venue biggest tenant was in action, the fact it was a pre-season game meant the crowd was only half full and half-baked when it came to cheering and supporting. In New York, basketball is king, while the NFLs Giants and Jets have a strong following in the Boroughs. However, the Rangers hold a special place in the citys heart and on this night, more than 18,000 flocked to support the team in a battle of two of the NHLs original six teams.Everything from the national anthem and pre-game introductions to the crowd interaction throughout the game lived up to MSGs reputation as The Worlds Most Famous Arena.Despite the Rangers going down 2-1, we all had a blast and when Mike Zibanejad scored in the second minute of the game, the Garden erupted and the chanting lasted until after the play had recommenced.Part of the attraction and enjoyment of attending an MSG event is before and after the game itself. Thousands eat and drink before the contest in the various pubs, bars and restaurants surrounding MSG which - unlike many major sporting venues - sits in the heart of Manhattan, easily accessible for the 8.4 million people who call New York home and the four South Australians enjoying a sporting holiday.Despite Hannahs cries to stay an extra few days in what is now her favourite city in the world, the following morning we jumped on a plane and headed for Green Bay - a world away from the hustle and bustle of NYC.As we descended into Green Bay on a tiny American Eagle jet, the only thing that captured our attention through the widows was mighty Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. The township of Green Bay has a population of a mere 100,000, which makes it truly remarkable that its people can not only support, but allow an NFL team to flourish in its area. Green Bay is the Packers and the Packers are Green Bay.The Packers were born in 1919 and have resided in Green Bay ever since. They are 13-time champions and a whos who of Hall of Fame players and coaches have ome through the organisation.Unlike the other 31 teams in the NFL, the Packers are not a privately-owned team. The team actually has more than 350,000 stockholders which is governed by an elected board of directors. While this system is, as mentioned, different to every other side in the league, the Green Bay community has always rallied around the team and when you hear someone say this is the towns team - they truly mean it.The Packers are the only not-for-profit, community-owned team in all of the United States professional sporting codes. And that very statement is what makes the Packers -??and attending one of their games - so incredibly amazing.Lambeau Field is as historic and honorary as you will ever find in world sport. It is the oldest operating NFL venue and only baseballs Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox have longer tenancy at their respective venues.Lambeau is almost 60 years old and has had very little construction done in the years since. The stadium does though, manage a magical balance of tradition versus spectator comfort. The stadium is named after Curly Lambeau, a founder and head coach of the team who died of cancer just months before the stadium was opened.Onto the game... we picked a good one. Not in competitiveness (the Packers wound up winning 26-10) but famed foe Chicago was in town, ruthless and hated rivals of the Pack.A flight from Chicago to Green Bay is only 40 minutes and the drive is both beautiful and comfortable, meaning there were more than a few Bears fans in attendance. Packers fans are known as the Cheeseheads and many fans wear a Cheesehead as a hat (look them up online, theyre very funny and very different) which only makes sense when we saw dozens of Bears fans wearing mock cheese graters as hats.Joining another teammate, Tom Lynch, and friend Nathan Evison for the Packers vs. Bears clash, we were fortunate enough to sneak onto the sidelines pre-game, making for an unforgettable experience. There are a few more venues on my list of must-attends (Soldier Field, Bryant-Denny Stadium, The Big House, Death Valley etc etc etc) but for a days work, Madison Square Garden into Lambeau Field is a pretty good start!Next up, Steelers vs. Patriots at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.Follow me on Instagram (@joshjenkins04) and Twitter (@joshjenkins24 and #JJintheUSA) for photos, videos and chats as we embark on a few more of Americas premier sporting events.Vic Davalillo Indians Jersey . ATLANTA -- The Braves already knew rookie Evan Gattis is an impressive power hitter. Hes also proving a quick learner. Gattis took advantage of some last-second tips from teammate Justin Upton before hitting a go-ahead, two-run homer off Kenley Jansen in the eighth inning, and the Atlanta Braves rallied to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 on Saturday night. Andrelton Simmons followed Gattis with another homer off Jansen after each listened to quick reminders from Upton on the right-handers signature cutters. "I remembered (Upton) said something about (Jansen) in the advance meeting, so I wanted to go to him to see what I could get," Gattis said. "Whatever I could get in an at-bat like that was going to help." Gattis said Uptons advice was to avoid cutters that appeared to be bound for the middle of the plate, because they would break off the plate. Gattis said Uptons instruction was to wait on a pitch "starting at you, or it looks like its starting at you. Thats going to be the one that you want." Gattis fouled off two cutters before hitting the line-drive homer. Jansen (1-2) said Gattis "just hit a good pitch." "What could I do?" Jansen asked. "Im not going to let that bother me. Tip your hat. He hit a good pitch. Youve got to go in there. Period. Hes creeping up on home plate every time Im throwing outside. I put it where I wanted to put it." Gattis has eight homers and ranks third in the majors with six game-winning RBIs. "Awesome," said Simmons of Gattis. "Hes awesome. Just amazing. Thats all you can say. Pretty much you saw it coming, but just seeing it is awesome. Hes a great hitter. Hes always ready to go and hes fun to watch." Gattis, primarily a catcher, also has played left field and first base. The recent returns of catcher Brian McCann and right fielder Jason Heyward from the disabled list may make it difficult for Gattis to find regular playing time, but he said he enjoys pinch-hitting. Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez sees a benefit in having Gattis available as a pinch-hitter. "He likes these moments, it seems like," Gonzalez said. "Its almost better that you can put him in anywhere you want, but sooner or later weve got to get him three or four at-bats." Kris Medlen, Cory Gearrin, and Craig Kimbrel combined on a two-hitter for Atlanta. Chris Capuano led 1-0 before he allowed a one-out single to B.J. Upton in the eighth. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly brought in Jansen (1-2), the hard-throwing right-hander, to face Gattis even though Capuano had allowed just five hits and thrown only 91 pitches. "Im not going to let him lose that game," Mattingly said of Capuano. Capuano said he told Mattingly aafter his last at-bat in the eighth inning to be prepared to pull him out of the game because he had lingering problems with a strained calf.dddddddddddd "It wasnt affecting pitch execution out there," Capuano said. "It just feels a little tired. Ive got an extra day before the next start. With treatment and stuff we should be able to get that ready." Gearrin (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth in relief of Medlen, who gave up two hits and one unearned run in seven innings. Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save. The Dodgers, who have lost two straight to the Braves after winning four of five, scored their only run in the fourth. Adrian Gonzalez walked and scored on Skip Schumakers double to the left-field corner and left fielder Justin Uptons fielding error. Schumaker wasnt given an RBI. The only other hit allowed by Medlen was a second-inning single by Tim Federowicz. "Medlen was outstanding," Gonzalez said. "He was ready for one of these games. You saw seven innings of him being the Medlen of last year." Chris Johnson had three hits for the Braves, who won after finding themselves in a sudden bullpen crisis. Before the game, Braves general manager Frank Wren said an MRI revealed a tear in Eric OFlahertys left ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. OFlaherty was placed on the disabled list and could face season-ending surgery. On Thursday, left-hander Jonny Venters had Tommy John surgery for the second time, ending his season. On Friday, right-hander Jordan Walden was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of shoulder inflammation. Medlen, who had been 0 for 13 this season, had a brief celebration in the third inning when he had a bloop single for his first hit. Standing and smiling on first base, Medlen lifted his hands to the sky before giving first-base coach Terry Pendleton a hug. Dodgers centre fielder Matt Kemp leaped and reached over the wall to take a home run away from Heyward in the first inning. Heyward took off his helmet while crossing second base. Just when it appeared he might toss the headgear in disgust, Heyward instead lifted the helmet toward Kemp in a gesture of respect. NOTES: The Braves called up RHP Cory Rasmus from Triple-A Gwinnett to take OFlahertys roster spot. Rasmus, 25, is the younger brother of Toronto OF Colby Rasmus. ... Medlen lowered his ERA to 3.02. ... Dodgers 2B Mark Ellis, on the disabled list because of a strained right quad, will join the team in Atlanta on Sunday and fly with the team to Milwaukee. .. Mattingly said LHP Ted Lilly (strained right rib cage) will come off the DL soon, but not necessarily to start. ... The series ends Sunday with Braves LHP Mike Minor (5-2) facing Dodgers RHP Matt Magill (0-0). ' ' '
