BLAINVILLE, Que. - Danick Martel scored twice, including the eventual winner, and the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada held off a late Moncton comeback attempt to pull away with a 3-2 victory over the Wildcats in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action Thursday. Ryan Tesink had a goal and an assist as the Armada took a 1-0 series lead in the best-of-seven set. Frederic Bergeron chipped in with two assists. Will Smith and Ivan Barbashev scored for the Wildcats (0-1), and Stephen Johnson helped on both Moncton goals. Blainville-Boisbriand goaltender Etienne Marcoux stopped 23 shots for the victory. Monctons Alex Dubeau made 21 saves in defeat. The Armada broke out to a 2-0 lead midway through the first period as Tesink found the back of the net on a power play and Martel scored his first of the game nine seconds later. Martel made it 3-0 at 12:09 of the second period. After two scoreless frames, the Wildcats came out firing in the third. Barbashev scored at 2:34 and Smith cut Blainville-Boisbriands lead to one with his goal at 16:04.
