NEW YORK -- Brandon Morrow has been called up by the San Diego Padres after more than a year out of the majors.The right-hander was selected from Triple-A El Paso and added to the big league bullpen Saturday against the New York Mets. Sidelined by a shoulder injury last season, Morrow hadnt pitched in the majors since May 2, 2015.To make roster room, San Diego optioned left-hander Buddy Baumann to El Paso and transferred infielder Cory Spangenberg to the 60-day disabled list. Spangenberg is expected to miss the rest of the season because of a left quadriceps injury.The 32-year-old Morrow, drafted fifth overall by Seattle in 2006, transitioned from starter to reliever at El Paso this year.
