OTTAWA, Ontario -- Zack Smiths old baseball skills helped the Ottawa Senators find some of their offensive spark again.Smith batted in his own rebound with just under four minutes left to play to tie it before Mark Stone scored with 7 seconds to go as Ottawa rallied past the Los Angeles Kings 2-1 on Friday night.I have to give a shout out to my old baseball team, the Maple Creek Mohawks, Smith said. My teammates could attest I wasnt a very good hitter but I think I redeemed myself with that one.Stone tracked down a loose puck in the crease and gave the Senators the lead less than four minutes after Smith tied the game.We stuck together for the full game, kept believing in our game plan and it paid off at the end, said Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who had two assists. We had a lot of chances and you get a little frustrated but you have to keep up with what youre doing. If youre getting chances it means youre doing good things. The Senators had totaled just four goals in their previous four games.Dwight King scored early in the second period for the Kings. Jeff Zatkoff had a shutout going through the first two periods, stopping all 18 shots the Senators sent his way. However, after recently came off the injury reserved list with a lower body injury, Zatkoff pulled himself after the second period.Peter Budaj, who had a shutout streak of 140:57 snapped Thursday night in Montreal, came on to start the third and stopped the first 12 shots he faced. Smith was then able to bat his own rebound out of the air and in with 3:54 remaining to tie it.Zatkoff made some pretty crazy saves there on us. We were getting chances, which was helping us stick to it, Smith said. I think thats important to know that we can stick around all game and if you have to wait for the last couple of minutes to score then so be it. I thought we were good all game.Budaj finished with 13 stops.Craig Anderson was the busiest of the three goalies in the game as he stopped 32 shots. We played as good as we could. We were a little overstaffed in the third and we knew they were going to come hard, Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. They have a lot of forwards who drive the net and both their goals were scored when we had defensemen lying around the net, so we lost a couple of battles there. The Kings had the lone power play of the first period and outshot the Senators 14-8 but were unable to get anything past Anderson.Los Angeles came closest to a goal when Nick Shore used a nifty toe-drag to get around Senators forward Ryan Dzingel and beat Anderson with a shot but it hit the post to keep the game scoreless.Jeff Carter initially got credit for the Kings goal 56 seconds, but replays showed his backhander through traffic appeared to hit Kings left leg before going in.Anze Kopitar was stopped point-blank by Anderson on the power play and then missed the net on a short-handed breakaway later in the second. The Senators had a 22-second 5-on-3 advantage in the period but didnt manage a shot.Game notes Chris Wideman and Mike Blunden were scratches for the Senators. ... Woodson signed a one-year contract with the Raiders on Tuesday to return to his original team after leaving seven years ago for Green Bay as a free agent. The move will be widely popular with Raiders fans, many of whom staked out the teams facility on Tuesday to greet Woodson on his visit and urge him to sign with the team. They got their wish a few hours after he arrived when the team announced his signing. Agent Carl Poston said Woodsons deal includes a $700,000 signing bonus and could be worth as much as $4.3 million in 2013. Woodson, the fourth overall pick in the 1998 draft by Oakland, returns to a vastly different franchise than the one he left following his eighth season with the team in 2005. Owner Al Davis died in October 2011 and the team is now run by Davis son, Mark. Kicker Sebastian Janikowski is the only player left from Woodsons eight years in Oakland that included three straight AFC West titles and a trip to the Super Bowl following the 2002 season. The Raiders havent had a winning season or a playoff berth since, adding to the fans desire to bring back Woodson and a connection to past successes. The 36-year-old was released by the Green Bay Packers in a salary-cutting move Feb. 15, with two years remaining on his contract. He had said he wanted to join a contender and visited with San Franccisco and Denver but ended up signing with a rebuilding Raiders team coming off a 4-12 season.dddddddddddd Woodson, the 1997 Heisman Trophy winner at Michigan, is an accomplished cornerback and safety who will bring veteran leadership to Oaklands secondary. The Raiders have a void at free safety after letting Michael Huff go in the off-season and also would like Woodson to tutor first-round cornerback D.J. Hayden. Woodson, an eight-time Pro Bowler and 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, missed nine games during the regular season for Green Bay last year because of a broken right collarbone. He spent seven seasons with the Packers, helping them win the Super Bowl following the 2010 season. He has 55 career interceptions, 17 sacks, 24 forced fumbles and 11 interception returns for touchdowns in 206 career games. Woodson is very familiar with Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie, who worked in the front office in Green Bay for all but one of his years with the Packers. Late in his first season with the Raiders, McKenzie talked about the difficult situation he inherited with the Raiders compared to the one his former boss Ted Thompson got in Green Bay. "His rookie year he was able to get Charles Woodson. I would have liked to have done that," McKenzie said in November. McKenzie got his man but it remains to be seen how much Woodson has left. ' ' '
