The 2016 Olympic games are currently being held in Rio de Janeiro. Basketball, swimming, field hockey, archery, gymnastics ... the list goes on for the events currently going on in Brazil.Recently there has been talk of video games possibly being inserted into the list of Olympic events one day. Skateboarding and surfing were just accepted into the 2020 event held in Tokyo, after all. A majority, if not all the current stars of today in competitive gaming could be retired by the time that occurs. So I took it upon myself to create Olympic teams for the top nations in the most global competitive title, League of Legends. Ten players, two from each position, were selected for the teams. While there will be some snubs -- Korea just has too much talent -- hopefully this gives you a general idea of what could be possible in the future.South KoreaTop: Song Smeb Kyung-hoTop: Kim Ssumday Chan-hoJungle: Go Score Dong-binJungle: Yoon Peanut Wang-hoMid: Lee Faker Sang-hyeokMid: Song Rookie Eui-jinAD Carry: Bae Bang Jun-sikAD Carry: Kim Deft Hyuk-kyuSupport: Kang GorillA Beom-hyeonSupport: Cho Mata Se-hyeongThis isnt fair. This is ridiculous. All right, call off the Olympics, this was a goofy idea. You could split these teams into two, and theyd probably come close to sweeping every country in the world before facing off in a South Korea 1 vs. South Korea 2 final. You could conceivably put out a lineup of Smeb, Peanut, Faker, Deft and Mata, a starting five of arguably the best players at their position currently in the world.Oh, Faker doesnt feel like playing today and wants to water his plants instead of playing Belgium? Heres Rookie to fill in and destroy everyone. You could rotate Smeb and Ssumday. You could mix and match between the bottom lane components until you found the perfect pair.Overall, this is by far -- and I mean, by far -- the strongest country in the world. While other countries might be able to put up some sort of a fight, if a starting five could find chemistry between these 10 players, the gold medal would be assured.ChinaTop: Ke 957 Chang-YuTop: Li Flandre Xuan-junJungle: Ming Clearlove KaiJungle: Liu MLXG Shi-yuMid: Li Xiaohu Yuan-HaoMid: Su Xiye Han-WeiAD Carry: Jian Uzi Zi-HaoAD Carry: Han S1mLz JinSupport: Tian Meiko YeSupport: Jin Savoki HaoThis team was selected by League of Legends Pro League commentator Indiana Froskurinn Black. The possible front-runner for the silver medal, China possesses a talented squad even without the Korean players like Mata and Deft who star in the LPL. While there is a lack of depth to the roster when you compare it to the star-studded lineup of Korea, you still have strong positions like the jungle with Clearlove and MLXG, two of the best junglers in the entire world. Wed also get to see the partnership between Chinas best support, Meiko, alongside the two-time silver medalist at Worlds, Uzi from Royal Never Give Up.TaiwanTop: Chen Ziv YiTop: Chen Morning Kuan-TingJungle: Hung Karsa Hau-HsuanJungle: Chen REFRA1N Kuan-TingMid: Chu FoFo Chun-LanMid: Huang Maple Yi-TangAD Carry: Chang BeBe Bo-WeiAD Carry: Chen Dee Jun-DeeSupport: Hu SwordArt Shuo-JieSupport: Ceng Dreamer Jian-HongThis team was selected by League of Legends Master Series expert Xander Goomiho Torres.Wait a minute China -- Taiwan might have a team solid enough to rip the silver away from you.Although Taiwans depth is even shallower than Chinas, only five players can play at one time in League of Legends. A lineup of Ziv, Karsa, either the 17-year-old prodigy FoFo or experienced ace Maple, former world champion BeBe, and proven leader SwordArt could be strong enough to knock off any country on the planet not named South Korea. Karsa and Ziv, in particular, would benefit from being able to play with each other after years of being rivals on Flash Wolves and AHQ, respectively.United States of AmericaTop: Kevin Hauntzer YarnellTop: Samson Lourlo JacksonJungle: Joshua Dardoch HartnettJungle: William Meteos HartmanMid: Eugene Pobelter ParkMid: Hai Hai LamAD Carry: Yiliang Doublelift PengAD Carry: Zachary Sneaky ScuderiSupport: Zaqueri Aphromoo BlackSupport: Adrian Adrian MaLooking at the United States roster, this is a pool of talent with the potential to be up there with China, Taiwan and others fighting for the silver medal. Hauntzer is on his way to being one of the better American top laners the region has ever produced, and the same can be said about Dardoch at the jungle position. Pobelter is coming off the best split of his career, and the bottom lane of the U.S. would be stacked with the potential return of the Rush Hour bottom lane between now-rivals Doublelift and Aphromoo.Hai is probably retired at this point after getting Cloud 9 Challenger to the NA League Championship Series for the next split, but hed come back for one more run to represent the red, white and blue at the Olympics in this what-if scenario.CanadaTop: Darshan Darshan UpadhyayaTop: Derek Zig ShaoJungle: Rami Inori CharaghJungle: Anthony Hard BarkhovtsevMid: Danny Shiphtur LeMid: Nicholas Ablazeolive AbbottAD Carry: Jason WildTurtle TranAD Carry: Johnny Altec RuSupport: Vincent Biofrost WangSupport: Andy Smoothie TaCanadas roster is interesting, albeit possibly a bit weak up the middle with Shiphtur and Ablazeolive both currently in the minor leagues. But a starting five of back-to-back league winner Darshan, Rookie of the Split contender Inori, Shiphtur, two-time NA LCS winner WildTurtle, and other Rookie of the Split contender Biofrost isnt shabby in the slightest.Youd get to see Shiphtur and Darshan play together, like in the old days on Dignitas, and wed get to see how former Team SoloMid AD WildTurtle meshes with TSMs new support in Biofrost. A best-of-five with the Americans, especially if Shiphtur could find his old form, would be a must-see event.DenmarkTop: Martin Wunder HansenTop: Mike Wickd PetersenJungle: Jonas Trashy AndersenJungle: Dennis Svenskeren JohnsenMid: S?ren Bjergsen BjergMid: Nicolaj Jensen JensenAD Carry: Jesper Zven SvenningsenAD Carry: Kasper Kobbe KobberupSupport: Nicolai Nisbeth NisbethSupport: Daniel Ernst Wendelbo WendelboWow, Denmark, youre scary. Not only does Denmark possibly the two best Western players in the world, Bjergsen and Zven, it has rising stars like Wunder to fill out the roster to give it an extra oomph.Trashy and Svenskeren are both strong junglers, and you could easily switch them out depending if you wanted to focus on top (Wunder and Trashy) or more likely mid (Svenskeren and Bjergsen). Support is easily the weakest link for this proposed Denmark squad, but just look at all that talent in the other four positions.FranceTop: Lucas Cabochard Simon-MesletTop: Paul sOAZ BoyerJungle: Charly Djoko GuillardJungle: Kévin Shaunz GhanbarzadehMid: Jérémy Eika ValdenaireMid: Tony ShLaYa CarmonaAD Carry: Pierre Steeelback MedjaldiAD Carry: Liv Hans StevenSupport: Bora YellOwStaR KimSupport: Hugo Dioud PadioleauI was left in another awkward position where a few of the positions were stacked (AD, top lane), but others, like the jungle, havent produced a lot of pro-gaming French talent. So, due to already being a head coach of a team in Team Vitality, Shaunz can pull double duty by being the substitute behind Djoko in the jungle. France is shallow in the jungle and mid, but the trio of Cabochard, YellOwStar and wunderkid Hans sounds interesting with sOAZ and Steeelback also able to start.BrazilTop: Felipe Yang ZhaoTop: Matheus Mylon BorgesJungle: Gabriel Revolta HenudJungle: Thúlio SirT CarlosMid: Murilo Takeshi AlvesMid: Gabriel Tockers ClaumannAD Carry: André esA PaveziAD Carry: Micael micaO RodriguesSupport: Luan Jockster CardosoSupport: Caio Loop AlmeidaThe final team on our list would also be the hosts if this hypothetical League of Legends tournament was hosted today in the Olympics. Brazil, always a favorite to make it out of the wild-card qualifiers, failed to make it to the Mid-Season Invitational against rivals Turkey, but INTZ, the winner of the most recent domestic league, will look to qualify for the upcoming World Championships. This team is full of INTZ players, with all five domestic winners in the 10-man Brazilian Olympic roster. Chicago Blackhawks Shirts . STORRS, Conn. -- Geno Auriemma expected his young team to go through growing pains early in the season as they adjusted to life without the Huskies Big Three. So far theyve grown up pretty quickly.Freshman Crystal Dangerfield scored 19 points, Katie Lou Samuelson added 16 and No. 3 UConn extended its winning streak to 77 games with a 72-61 victory over second-ranked Baylor on Thursday night.I think we grew up a lot, Auriemma said . Came of age so to speak. That doesnt mean were older enough to not grow some more. The streak is the second longest in womens college basketball history, standing 13 short of the school record set by the Huskies from 2008-10. With stars Breanna Stewart, Morgan Tuck and Moriah Jefferson gone to the WNBA, Auriemma wasnt sure what to expect from his team early. So far hes been impressed after victories over No. 12 Florida State and now Baylor. What I saw today was surprising, the Hall of Fame coach said. With the game tied at 54 early in the fourth quarter, UConn took over. The Huskies scored 16 of the next 18 points to put the game away. Dangerfield, a diminutive guard, made a spectacular layup with 4:03 left that brought the near sellout crowd to its feet and made it 62-56. Baylor (2-1) couldnt recover.I wont disappear in big games, Dangerfield said. I want to attack. I want to be in those situations. I feel like I have the experience to do it, so Ill be there.Unlike during the 75 games leading into this season where the Huskies (2-0) won every game by double digits and most were decided by halftime, this seasons squad has had to pull out its first two wins in the final quarter. We can fight. We can push back. I think we kind of showed the rest of the country, like OK, its not going to be as easy as you think it is to beat UConn this year, Gabby Williams said.Trailing 40-38 midway through the third quarter, UConn scored 12 of the next 13 points to open up the lead. Kia Nurse got the run started with a jumper and Dangerfield capped it with a 3-pointer.Baylor wouldnt go away, going on a 12-2 run to tie the game at 54 early in the fourth quarter. Alexis Jones, who led the Lady Bears with 23 points, keyed the spurt.ddddddddddddUConn contained 6-foot-7 Baylor sophomore Kalani Brown. She had 25 points and 19 rebounds in a win over No. 9 UCLA on Monday. She had just nine points and five rebounds against the Huskies as she was saddled by foul trouble.I thought we faced a lot of adversity tonight, Baylor coach Kim Mulkey said. Calls, momentum. We hung in there even through mistakes. We got to crunch time and we had wasted possessions. Those things have to be fixed and they will.BIG PICTURE:Baylor: The Lady Bears were trying to get a measure of revenge, as the Huskies ended their 69-game home winning streak on Jan. 13, 2014.
