One of the questions will be with Joshua Garnett do enough to keep a roster spot, or will the likes of Willie Beavers, or will one of the other veterans the team signed this offseason make Garnett expendable. The team will be away for six weeks before training camp is here. During training camp, there will be plenty of cuts that will catch us off guard. It happens to every team every year. Will Garnett be one of those cuts this year?ESPN put together a prediction Monday where they went through each team and chose a veteran candidate that will be cut. My answer would be Jordan Matthews, even as someone who just signed with the 49ers. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner leans towards Garnett:Garnett has the first-round tag in his favor, even with his fifth-year option being declined. With Person being a lifetime journeymen, it wouldn’t surprise if his play took a step back this season and opened the door of opportunity for Garnett. That’ll be one of the more intriguing and vital training camp battles for the 49ers. Like Nick mentioned above https://www.49ersfanshop.com/Jerick-Mckinnon-Jersey , there are plenty of outcomes for Garnett’s 2019 season. Fortunately, most of them benefit the Niners. If Garnett plays out of his mind, the team likely signs him to a one-year prove it deal. If Person is dependable again, then there’s no harm no foul. Garnett’s cap number is just over $2.9 million for 2019. $1.2 million of that becomes dead money, and $1.7 million is what the team would save. The question now becomes, will Garnett make Week 1 active roster? The San Francisco 49ers will likely fill their top needs during the NFL draft that is a month from now. That shouldn’t prevent the team from continuing to improve their depth on the roster. Here are two players that the team could look at on each side of the ball.OG-Andy LevitreLevitre is 33-years old and is coming off of a torn triceps injury. A similar injury that forced the former Atlanta Falcons starting left guard to miss time in the 2017 postseason. You aren’t bringing in Levitre to start DeForest Buckner Jersey , though. You are bringing in the veteran that has proven he can get the job done in the NFL. Prior to Levitre being injured, he was widely regarded as one of the top guards in football. There’s no telling if he is still that player, but with the familiarity in Kyle Shanahan’s offense, Levitre can certainly provide some much needed depth at guard. If he wins a starting spot, I don’t think you’ll see anyone complaining. Especially with the contract Levitre will command coming off of an injury and entering his 11th season. Levitre could also mentor guys like Laken Tomlinson, Mike Person, and Josh Garnett.LB-Jamie CollinsWhen you watched Collins play for the Cleveland Browns in 2018, it was evident he simply wasn’t interested in being a part of that team. A change of scenery would be welcomed for the versatile defender. Collins has the type of skills a team like the 49ers should covet. Not only can Collins run and cover Garry Gilliam Color Rush Jersey , but he can play on the line of scrimmage as well. Last year for the Browns Collins played 255 snaps on the defensive line. Collins had four sacks on 140 pass rush snaps. For reference, Ronald Blair was second on the 49ers in sacks last year with 5.5. He rushed the passer 338 times. With no more Cassius Marsh, the team could use a third pass rusher that can bring more to the table than just one trait. Collins is the type of athlete you bet on. San Francisco would be wise to incentivize Collins contract. The effort was an issue in 2018, the talent was not.
